Artist name: Edward Ingraham (aka Edge)
Art piece name: Burning Man 2003 Bottle Opener Pendant
Media: Metalwork - 304 Stainless Steel
Story: Edge has been working with metal artifacts for Burning Man since 2000. His pendants morphed into wearable bottle opener art in 2002 when he created a double-sided bottle opener to represent an angle for the Floating World theme that year. The pendants were so well received, Edge decided to continue the series. The 2003 pendant is an image of the Burning Man surrounded by flames. Each pendant starts by being laser cut. Next the faces are lightly deburred on a disk grinder. The lip of the bottle opener is cut and the edges are chamfered using a computer numerical controlled (CNC) milling machine. Some pendants were then heated on a kitchen oven to change the color to a tempered amber color (the pendant provide was not heated, but can be heated in the future without the string to change its color). Each necklace is then finished with a tight knitted black cotton cord with double sliding knot and a glass bead.

Artist name: Ehren Tool (aka Tool)
Art piece name: A Few of Thousands: Cluster Bombs on the Black Rock Desert
Media: Ceramic
Story: I am just making cups. They represent different things to different people, says artist, Tool. Im sharing the burden of knowledge of what cluster bombs are capable of. Each bomblet has a 70-metre casualty radius. During Burning Man 2003, 808 ceramic cups decorated with military toys and insignia, were laid to rest on the playa in a grid defining the kill zone footprint of four CBU-87 cluster bombs (the number of cluster bombs that one A10 attack plane can carry) which occupies a 200m x 1600m space after dispersement. Tool invited people to interact with his installation, which was located in the Realm of Wholly Other near the perimeter fence at 2:00.
