After making the Rabbit Hole models, I made a bunch of the props for the inside of the Rabbit Hole using plaster. A lot of plaster - well over 100lbs of the stuff along with chicken wire, carboard tubes fiberglass/bondo, and paint.

Plaster soaked towels and rags are used to build up the mushroom. Plaster ruins clothes. I prefer to work when it is hot so I don't need to wear much (plaster comes off of skin easily).

The Caterpillar's legs were made using 2 dozen baby socks. each stuffed with some terrycloth towels, filled and soaked in plaster and attached to the body.

To seal up and add strength to the mushrooms and Caterpillar I add a couple coats of a fiberglass/Bondo mixture.
